Get to know the Downtown of La Paz walking across the traditional, colonial and political areas of the city. Visit the museum of your choice and enjoy a "salteña" on the way.

La Paz is the largest and most important city of the South American Republic of Bolivia. With its approximately 1.8 million inhabitants, the city extends into the highland plateau of Bolivia, the vast flatland called the Altiplano lying at 3800-4100 m. La Paz is an interesting city that combines ancient tradition and modern elements. Ever since the Spanish rule in the 19th century, it has been a major trading centre of the country.


Itinerary

Highlights: Downtown La Paz - San Pedro Prison - Traditional Markets - Museums - Colonial Architecture - Government District

Our first stop is the San Pedro Prison located in the middle of the city. Your guide will explain why this is a world famous place for La Paz's underground culture before heading to the traditional markets as well as "tambos" and visiting the colonial and political sectors of the city. We finish up in the handicrafts district and include with a stroll through the world-famous Witch's Market. During the walk you can choose to visit two museums, your guide will suggest options as you work your way through downtown.

Departs: at around 9:00am in the city centre of La Paz.

Returns: at around 12:30pm to the city centre of La Paz.
