26 rural school teachers from Peru will travel to the United States this month to be trained in English teaching methods and to improve their language proficiency.

The educators, who will study at Arizona State University from November 22 to December 18, are teachers appointed and recruited for public secondary schools under a full school day regime.

The scholarship was designed to strengthen and develop linguistic, methodological and intercultural skills of certified English teachers, resulting in improved teaching performance in class.

Peru’s National Program for Scholarships and Educational Credit (Pronabec) organized a ceremony for the said scholars, which which was attended by U.S. Embassy representatives, Pronabec’s Executive Director Raul Choque, and Education sector officials.
