New Campsites along the Inca Trail are accessible for tourists who are taking the famous trail to Machu Picchu.

The constructions of the campsites for domestic and foreign tourists were completed after half a year and have been appraised by geologists.

This area consists of three different platforms with retaining walls, stone stairways, a rainwater drainage system and stair rails. The area can fit 20 tents, enabling hikers to rest before continuing their trek.

Millions of Tourists to Flock to Peru in 2017

Peru´s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism expects millions of tourists to flock to Peru throughout 2017.

The Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Eduardo Ferreyros, specifically announced that 4.36 million tourists will travel to Peru in the next year.

In addition to mining and agriculture, tourism is one of Peru´s main industries that draws foreign currency. Because of this, the government seeks to increase tourism in Peru to benefit the economy.

Peru´s Government will Promote Growth through Tourism

Peru´s Prime Minister, Fernando Zavala, declared that the new government will rely heavily on tourism to promote growth and build the economy.

Zavala made these statements as he addressed Congress with the intent to build confidence in the new government´s plans. These plans include increasing foreign tourists in Peru to 7 million by 2021, which is double the 3.5 million foreigners that entered Peru last year.

Additionally, the Prime Minister declared to RPP radio station, ´´We want to prioritize tourism, because this is where we can create new sources of growth and new jobs for Peru.´´ (more…)

Tourists Increase in 2016 in Peru.
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Magali Silva, declared that 75,289 more tourists traveled to Peru than last year. Compared to the first quarter of 2015, there has been a 6.7% increase in tourists in 2016.

Furthermore, there were 276,086 visitors to Peru is April alone, which is 5.1% more than April of 2015.
The countries that send the most visitors to Peru are Chile, the United States, Ecuador, Colombia, and Costa Rica. In the first quarter of 2016, Chile sent 383,487 visitors and the United States sent 176,829 visitors. (more…)

Peru offers a more diversified tourist activities

The ministry of Foreign trade and tourism in Peru announced 75 tourism products from 25 different regions for Peruvian travel agents and tour operators who all came together at the Regional Tourism Products Workshop in Lima this year.

In 2014, 25 projects were successfully introduced; the remaining 50 tourism projects are still under implementation.

New tourists sectors

According to the head of tourism in Peru, the development of these tourist products helps to diversify the Peruvian offer by creating new tourists-circuits throughout Peru. (more…)

Elimination of the Schengen visa sparks thousands of Peruvian travelers to Europe

This past March, the Schengen visa requirement was eliminated for Peruvians. This means that Peruvians only have to have their passports and a few other documents in order to enter Europe for 90 days.

The process is much easier; countries merely ask Peruvians to prove that they have enough financial stability to travel through Europe and sometimes ask for confirmation of hotel/residence. It is also made very clear that it is prohibited to work during their time in Europe.

Tourist Numbers increase for February in Peru

Considering the number of tourists that traveled to Peru in 2015, there was a 9.9% rise in tourist numbers this past February 2016. In fact, every month this year has seen an increased number of foreign tourists.

An additional 29,000 tourists flocked to Peru in the first months of 2016. The majority of these people come from Chile, the United States, Ecuador, Colombia, and Uruguay.

There were also visitors from the Pacific Alliance, APEC countries, and European countries. Most European travelers are from the United Kingdom and France. (more…)
