The “Safe Strategy” for visiting Peru wins an award in Spain.

Peru’s “Safe Tourism” national strategy improved by Mincetur (the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism) gained the Travellers Awards in Spain due to its superiority to assuring tourists a safe journey in Peru.

New access routes to Machu Picchu available from 2020

In 2020, the work to make Peru’s most renowned destination, Machu Picchu more reachable will begin by constructing new routes. Peru hopes that it will support the development of new tourist attractions as well.

The main path will cross the Amazon passing over the Intihuatana community in San Miguel, Inkarakay, Mandor and Puente Ruinas leading up to the Machu Picchu Town or Aguas Calientes.

Cities most visited In Peru last weekend

According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), around 760 000 Peruvian people traveled for this long weekend. Lima was the most visited city in the country.

From Friday, June 29 to Sunday, July 01, the festivities of San Pedro and San Pablo are celebrated in Peru. Holidays like these make people travel, which results in economic impacts, in the case, around $70 million US dollars.

Peru to build Sustainable Tourism Rainbow Mountain

Vilcanota Mountain, known as Rainbow Mountain, in Peru, has become one of the most popular attractions in Peru, as you can read in Lonely Planet. The main reason why it is so popular are its stunning colorful layers made out of mineral deposits.

Colca Valley – main attraction on UGART Tourism Business Fair

The Colca Valley Autonomous Authority (Autocolca) represented the Colca Valley at the 33rd UGART Tourism Business Fair that took place in Porto Alegre the 2nd and 3rd of March showing the landscapes, customs and typical dances of the Valley by providing an information stand.

For the exhibition, Autocolca used audiovisual materials as well as flyers, souvenirs, maps and other information about the Colca Valley.

Peru: Tourism Vision Towards 2035

According to the president of Peru’s National Tourism Chamber, Fredy Gamarra, tourist numbers will increase from four million tourists per year to eleven million by 2035. The new airport in Chinchero (Cusco), whose construction probably will be completed until 2035, should contribute to this.

Thanks to this airport tourists will be able to travel directly to the southern parts of the country without flying to Lima first. Peru is mainly visited by backpackers that come from countries all over the world. This year, the Dakar Rally and the visit of Pope Francis (more…)

Sacred Valley visited by Thousands of Tourists every year

The beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas of the Incas, located in the Cusco region, attracts more and more travelers and tourists every year. The Sacred Valley is located nearby Cusco, at about an hour bus drive from the imperial city of the Incas.

Peru´s city Arequipa, known as ´´the White City,´´ is quickly growing in popularity as a business tourist destination.

Specifically, Arequipa has excellent hotels, tourist attractions, and high quality service that make it a growing destination for business conferences.

The Exports and Tourism Promotin Board has declared Lima, Cusco, Ica and Arequipa to be the best cities in Peru for business meetings.

Kuelap: Peru´s up and coming tourist attraction

Kuelap, a pre-Incan archaeological site that is located in the northeastern area of the Peruvian Andes, is said to be an up and coming tourist attraction in Peru.

In fact, some say that it will become one of the major sites that brings tourists to Peru. Located in the Province of Luya, the fortress is a product of the Chachapoyas civilization.

The Chachapoyas civilization prospered between 900 and 1400 AD, and they were conquered by the Incas just before the Spanish arrived to Peru. Their structure now known as Kuelap was the political center of their people. (more…)

Most know Machu Picchu is the main attraction of Cusco, but the Incan capital has much more to offer! This wonderful region is home to several cultural treasures including Tipon and Raqchi, which reflect its rich heritage. Because of this, Cusco plans to promote tourist sites in the Southeast, not only Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley which are the traditional tourist attractions.

The southern Cusco route does not take you to the South, but to the Southeast and is not as popular as the conventional tours. Its less-known status gives it a special charm (more…)
