Video clip Carlos Vives ensures 15 million US dollars in Peruvian economy

The video clip of the song ‘Mañana’ by the Columbian singer-songwriter Carlos Vives has a positive impact on Peru’s economy. The video that has been watched over 2 million times just four days after release shows the Peruvian capital Lima in all its beauty.

According to Sony Music, approximately 80 tourists visit Peru for every million views on Youtube. Figures in the past have shown that music videos and movies about a certain country correlate positively with the number of tourists (more…)

Tourist Arrivals Peru will grow between 7% and 8%

According to Carlos Canales, Chairman of the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) in Peru, international tourist arrivals will grow between 7% and 8% this year.

Reason for that are the archaeological, gastronomic, natural and cultural attractions of Peru. Due to the political situation Peru failed to expand corporate tourism in the beginning of 2018.

After surmounting the political problems with the help of the new President Martin Vizcarra, the expectations with respect to the growing of tourist arrivals have risen. (more…)

Peru: Tourism Vision Towards 2035

According to the president of Peru’s National Tourism Chamber, Fredy Gamarra, tourist numbers will increase from four million tourists per year to eleven million by 2035. The new airport in Chinchero (Cusco), whose construction probably will be completed until 2035, should contribute to this.

Thanks to this airport tourists will be able to travel directly to the southern parts of the country without flying to Lima first. Peru is mainly visited by backpackers that come from countries all over the world. This year, the Dakar Rally and the visit of Pope Francis (more…)

54% of the tourist that arrive to Peru come from the Asia-Pacific region

Peru’s foreign trade and tourism manager stated that 54% of all the foreign tourist who visit Peru come from member countries of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

Because of this high percentage of visitors coming from APEC countries, the economies of the member countries are relevant to the tourism sector in Peru. The arrival of international tourists is a main market for tourism sector.

3,500,000 foreign tourists visited Peru in 2015, 1,890,000 of these tourists came from APEC member countries. (more…)

Paracas and Ballestas Islands receive 500,000 visitors in 2015

Paracas National Reserve and Ballestas Islands in the Ica region on the South Coast of Peru, were expected to atract over 500,000 visitors last week, by the end of December 2015. The region is now of the favorite sites in Peru for travelers interested in connecting with nature.

Domestic vacationers, that generally travel during long weekends, are included here as wel as foreign tourists.

Pedro Gamboa, head of state-run National Service of Natural Protected Areas—Sernanp, highlighted the growth of Paracas Bay, which consists of two natural areas: Paracas Natural Reserve and Ballestas Islands. (more…)

Foreign arrivals grow by 7.8% in 2015

Foreign arrivals in the first nine months of 2015 grew by 7.8% from the same period last year, which generates a positive tourist flow of 185,967 visitors. These visitors, coming primarily from Chile, Ecuador, the United States, Colombia, Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and France lead the growth advancing 10% as a group, and outpacing the total growth rate for the first nine months of the year. Visitors from these 10 countries account for 76% of total international arrivals.

New Lima convention center expected to have a positive effect on tourism

The new convention center in Lima was opened on Thursday by Peruvian president Ollanta Humala. He said that the center will have a direct effect on tourism in the area as it will hold important international events.

This new location for events will put Peru in the position of being a logistics hub in Latin America. It will provide the infrastructure and equipment to hold these large events as well as the capacity to hold 10,000 people at a time. It has a total of 18 halls which each be divided into two. Peru participated in the World Tourism Fair in Paris during from 19 till 22nd of March. Peru’s appearance at big events like this are very important and this will increase the number of tourists traveling to Peru, is what Magali Silva Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism – said.

Positive news for the country of Peru, as Peru will take great advantage out of this.

The goverment of Peru wants to attract million overseas tourists to the country for next year. The Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) has announced this target last week.

The Minister Magali Silva said that his sector’s budget for the 2014 fiscal year is US$ 518.4 million.

“Among the achievements of Mincetur in 2013 is the strengthening of the Peruvian trade agenda which resulted in free trade deals with the European Union (EU), Venezuela, Costa Rica and Thailand,” Silva said. (more…)
