Julio C. Tello Museum Best Cultural Destination In Latin America

The Peruvian Julio C. Tello Site Museum, located near Paracas National Reserve, won a prestigious price during the annual Leading Culture Destinations Awards. During this event, held in London, it was announced that the museum won the prize for Latin American New Culture Destination of the Year. In the past it is shown that winning this prize has had positive effects on the amount of visitors.

Peru competes at World Travel Awards 2018 in 21 categories

The Andean country Peru is competing in 21 different categories at the World Travel Awards 2018. This prize recognizes, celebrates, and a rewards excellence in all areas of the tourism industry.

Peru is a strong contestant since it has been named already several times best country to visit in South America for its cultural, gastronomical, and natural characteristics than attract more and more visitors from all around the world.

More than 400 Peruvian Products presented at World Cup in Russia

PromPeru, Peru’s Exports, and Tourism Promotion Board, will present over 400 Peruvian products in Moscow during the World Cup in order to promote Peru’s exportable products in Russia.

According to Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Rogers Valencia, the Casa Peru, the Peru House, might be visited by 150,000 people from all over the world during the World Cup. Casa Peru will be situated near the main square. Peruvian products will be exhibited and product tastings will be offered. (more…)

Air Canada will offer daily direct flights between Peru and Canada

During high season, from June 27 to September 28, Air Canada will offer daily flights from Toronto to the Peruvian capital Lima. Furthermore, two weekly return flights from Lima to Montreal will depart and additional flights from Lima to Toronto.

The additional route will transport the increased number of passengers traveling between Peru and Canada during summer season. Air Canada Sales Manager Patricia Lucar states that these flights have advantages (more…)

Northern Peru One of the Best Places To Travel 2018

According to the US digital magazine Conde Nast Travel, the north of Peru is one of the best places to travel in 2018. The list of 18 best places to travel was set up by the magazine’s publishers and based on travel experiences and recommendations. The American magazine pointed out destinations such as the archaeological site Chan Chan, Huaca de La Luna temple, Leymebamba and the Gocta waterfalls. Other must-see destinations regarding the Conde Nast Travel include Bahamas, New Orleans and the Azores, Portugal. (more…)

Peru was nominated 37 times At the World Travel Awards (WTA) from 2016 , within the South American Region; Promperu is nominated for South America’s Leading Tourist Board.

The World Travel Awards have been gaining importance since 1993. The WTA is a good way to measure the excellence of the travel and tourism industry. Qualified executives and consumer travel buyers from all over the world can vote online to select a winner.

There has been a huge increase in nominations from 7 in 2015 to 37 in 2016. (more…)

SmartPhone App Makes Travelling in Peru Easier

Travelling around Peru is a fun adventure with so many different places to explore, but it can also be a little scary when visiting areas that are unfamiliar. Nevertheless, travelers are in luck. Recently a new free application called “Perú Natural” was developed just to make your trip to this gorgeous country a little easier. It was created by SERNANP (Peru´s Ministry of Environment) with Promperú (Commission for Promotion of Peru), and MINCETUR (Ministry of Commerce and Tourism). It gives trustworthy information and advice on the protected natural areas of Peru.

Peru Takes the Stage at the 2014 Moscow International Travel & Tourism Exhibition

People from all over the world are coming to Peru to see its historical sites and experience its rich culture. This month PromPeru will be focusing in on the Russian tourists by attending one of the largest travel shows in the country, Moscow International Travel & Tourism Exhibition (MITT). It has over 198 destinations and 1,800 companies participating in the event.

The exhibition will be taking place from March 19-22. After 6 years of PromPeru not participating in the MITT, it is coming back strong with nine tourism professionals and holding over 300 business meetings with international companies. (more…)

2nd Peruvian gastronomic festival “Taste of Peru” in Dubai

Following great success last year, Dubai now hosts the second annual Festival Taste of Peru, February 26 until March 1.

This event – organized by Promperu (the Trade, Tourism and Investment Office of Peru) in Dubai – will showcase different gastronomic marvels of Peru including causa, anticucho, empanadas and ceviche,along with the well known Peruvian cocktail called pisco sour.

Taste of Peru has also been added to Dubai Food Carnival’s roster of events. (more…)

Peru will promote new tourism at Tourism Fair in Spain

PromPeru, the export and tourism agency of Peru, will go to the upcoming International Tourism Fair (Fitur) in Madrid, Spain from Jan. 22 till 26, with delegation of 14 tourism-related companies.

The main goal is to showcase a new tourism offer that combines “nature, health and wellbeing”and to further promote Peru as a “mega-diverse”, country, as they have been doing since the big campaign Marca Peru was launched in 2011.

Food tourism earns in Peru’s Tacna region

A recent report shows that food-related tourism in Peru’s southern Tacna region generates US$ 300 million per year, and most of the tourists come from Peru’s southern neighbor, Chile.

The study was conducted by PromPeru, Peru’s export and tourism promotion agency and shows. that the most important reason to visit Tacna are its varied culinary options, followed by city tours, health services and shopping.

David Rendon, head of the regional chamber of tourism, said that the average Chilean tourist really likes restaurants offering rotisserie chicken (more…)

Peruvian Cotton at the 2014 World Cup

According to news agency “Andina”, Peruvian cotton will be used to make uniforms for at least six teams participating in the 2014 World Cup.

Peru might have failed to qualify for the World cup, but “Peru will be present (at the World Cup), as we are manufacturing the clothes that will be used in the sporting events,” said Antonio Castillo, the commercial advisor for PROMPERU in Brazil.

The list of teams that will wear Peruvian cotton jerseys was not available at the time of writing. (more…)
