According to USA Today Peruvian cuisine will be one of the big food trends in 2014

USA Today has predicted that Peruvian food will be one of the big culinary trends of 2014.

Peruvian cuisine offers a tremendous diversity with dishes that reflect the sea, the Amazon jungle and the Andes mountains . Peru has thousands of varieties of potatoes and nearly equal variety of corn and quinoa.

Other food trends, according to the publication, include Philippines, New Nordic cuisine and “Next-Mex” (modern Mexican cooking) as becoming international food trends in the coming year. (more…)

Peru for 2nd time named World’s Leading Culinary Destination

For the second year running, Peru has won the top honor as World’s Leading Culinary Destination at the 2013 World Travel Awards held in Qatar.

Renowned for its ingredients and traditional dishes, the Peruvian cuisine won the award after beating several other candidates such as Australia, China, France, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Spain, Thailand and USA.

This award is a recognition for the Peruvian gastronomy, which this year also gained another remarkable international accolade as South Americas’ Best Culinary Destination. (more…)

Many travelers come to Peru for gastronomic tourism

Peruvian restaurants are opening all over the world and Peruvian cuisine is booming. And more and more foodies come to Peru to check out Peruvian food in its land of origin.

According to Promarket Peru, 1.2 million tourists will have come to Peru by the end of 2013 with the intention of doing gastronomic tourism.

This represents about 40% of the projected 2013 total of 3.1 million foreign tourists, reported, citing Lima daily El Comercio.
