Peru Continues to Promote Northern Amazonas

The Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry of Peru (Mincetur) is planning to promote tourism activity in the Amazon Region in Northern Peru. This has been announced by the Minister of Tourism Liz Chirinos.

The Minister states that she will aid and coordinate the regional- and local governments of the region in order to improve the promotion of the tourist attraction. The northern Amazonas region has a lot to offer, but many things need to be done to create good facilities for tourists. (more…)

Peru breaks World Record Largest Handmade Cloth

Peru has yet another Guinness World Records on its name. To wit, the world’s largest handmade cloth had been made by a collective of 12 Peruvian craftswoman. On the cloth one can find cultural imagery of Cusco and the old Incas. Patrons include the famous serpent, puma and eagle as well as the ancient Inca calendar.

The cloth has been made at the Plaza the Armas of the Pallpata district, located in the Espinar province, south of Cusco.

International children’s Climate Prize won by Peruvian Child

The Peruvian child Jose Quisocala is the winner of th 2018 Children’s Climate Prize! This prize is handed out annually by the Swedish company Telgre Energi, that focusses mainly on producing renewable energy. 13 year old Jose got his price during a ceremony in Stockholm.

The Peruvian boy Quisocala won the price with is so-called eco-bank: a banking system that stimulates children to recycle more. When children hand in their recycled materials they would get special “eco-credits” which can be used to buy products (more…)

Ministry of Culture confirms: no increase entrance fee Machu Picchu 2019

Various media outlets had announced in July and August that the entry fee to visit Machu Picchu would rise in 2019. This would be due to the rising promotional fees that the Peruvian Tourism Board pays to promote the country and the old Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. However, Peru’s Ministry of Culture has just announced that these rumors are not true and that the entry fee to Machu Picchu remains the same next year.

The old Inca country of Peru could play a big role in humanity’s fight against climate changes, says Spanish environmental expert Xavier Labandeira. However, in order to do this, the Peruvian government should make itself hard against the loss of woodland in the country. Currently, roughly 170.000 hectares of forest are being cut every year.

Peru’s famous restaurant Maido is chosen as the best restaurant in Latin America for the second time in a row. This restaurant, located in Lima, combines traditional Peruvian cuisine with Japanese influences. Naturally, this means that Maido is also the best restaurant of the old Inca country.

Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Rogers Valencia has announced that they are working on a way to regulate the growing tourism flow to the ancient Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu. The minister said this on Friday the 9th of November; he hopes the news plans can be implemented in January 2019 already.

Peruvian Coffee Receives 3 Awards

During the fourth Annual Contest Of Locally Roasted Coffees AVPA, which was held in the French capital Paris, three Peruvian coffee brands received prices. This event ranks coffees in a variety of categories and then chooses which ones are the best in their specific classification.

The Peruvian brands that won these prestigious prices are from different regions. The Junin region is represented by the brands Incanforests’ café Levado Arabiva and Cafe de Papa’s Arabica Bourbon. Both companies went home with a medal in the category of Round Balanced coffee. (more…)

Airport Lima will grow to receive 40 million passengers by 2030

Jorge Chavez International Airport, based in the Peruvian capital Lima, is expected to welcome 40 million tourists by the year 2030. This rapid increase of arrivals at the airport is due to the extensive expansion works, which will be finished next decennium. This has just been announced by the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Rogers Valencia.
