Peru Moves Up 5 places on IMD World Talent Ranking

The Institute for Management Development (IMD) has announced that Peru now holds the 52nd position on the most recent World Talent Ranking. This means Peru moved up five places compared to 2017. The overall score increased with more than 5 points between 2017 and 2018 from 39.1 to 44.3.

This points are given according to three different factors. The first one is the ‘Appeal’ factor”: the degree to which countries attract both national and international talents. Then there is the ‘Investment and Development’ aspect (more…)

Natural Areas in Peru to be protected

The State-run National Service of Natural Protected Areas insists that it aims to protect four areas in Peru. They will do this by putting them on the Green List of Protected Areas of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Being on this Green List ensures that the conservation and management of these areas is priority, and that recognition is given for the success of these sustainable sites.

Mistura food fair coming soon to Lima

Mistura 2016, Latin America´s most important food fair, is set to take place between September 2nd and September 11th of this year.

The Peruvian Gastronomy Society (Apega) has chosen more than 180 restaurants to participate in the fair at Lima´s Costa Verde seashore.

A few of the main chefs announced the list of eateries that will provide traditional Peruvian dishes and street food that so many people are anticipating. There are also several restaurants that will be present who provide a fusion of food, such as El Aguajal and Miski Mikuy Wanka. (more…)

Guns N´ Roses coming to Lima in late October

The famous Guns N´ Roses is coming to Lima at the end of October!

Tickets have officially gone on sale for the anticipated concert that will take place on October 27th. The band plans to kick off its tour through Latin America in Peru´s capital of Lima.

Other cities that the band plans to visit are Santiago, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, and some other cities in Brazil.

Some of their most well-known songs include ´´Sweet Child O´ Mine,´´ ´´Patience,´´ ´´Don´t Cry,´´ ´´Welcome to the Jungle,´´ ´´Paradise City,´´ and ´´November Rain.´´ (more…)

Peru: the second fastest growing economy in 2016

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has estimated that Peru´s economy with grow by 3.8% in 2016. This would make Peru the second fastest growing economy in South America for this year.

ECLAC had previously announced an estimate of 3.4% growth, but recently increased this claim this past Friday. It projected Bolivia to have the largest growth with 4.5%, with Peru following with 3.8%. Colombia will grow by 2.9%, Paraguay by 2.8%, Chile by 1.6%, and Uruguay by 0.5%. (more…)

The Rolling Stones rock out in Lima

Last Sunday, the Rolling Stones made history in Lima. Although Mick Jagger has previously been in Peru, the band had never performed a concert here. They played for the first time in Peru in front of 70,000 Peruvians on Sunday, March 6th.

Even with the first chords of ´Star me up,´ the crowd went wild for the famous band. The four stars, Jagger, Richards, Wood, and Watts, truly delivered to all of their fans in Lima.

The rock and rolling lasted for 2 hours as the fans enjoyed their most famous songs (more…)

Peruvian food is on its way to Paris

Peruvian´s most famous chef, Gaston Acurio, is heading to Paris to open a new restaurant. The restauarant is called Manko and is located on Montaigne Avenue, just beside a theater. Customers will experience Peru´s famous gastronomy in an auction hall that boasts a rugged atmosphere.

Acurio declared it a ´´space devoted to leisure that will bring Peruvian rejoicing, fun and sensuality to Paris.´´ Acurio owns 45 restaurants that are located in 11 different countries. As he is considered one of the top-notch chefs in Latin America, it is exciting that he will be taking his famous cuisine to Paris. (more…)

Lima appears in the top 50 destinations

The Peruvian capital Lima, is now number 45 in the Top “100 City Destination Ranking” according to Euromonitor.

This ranking was released in January 2016. There are just 5 other Latin American cities that appear in the top 100. This ranking proves Lima’s importance: the city is now considered to be region’s second most important city when it comes to hosting international tourists.

Even though Lima had to deal with a decline in visitors of 20% during the lasts years, the Peruvian capital retained its position in the top 100. (more…)

Peru Identified to have Potential for Tourism and Gastronomy

Brazil´s Tourism Minister, Henrique Aves, and El Salvador´s Tourism Minister, Napoleon Duarte, indicated that Peru has serious potential in its tourism industry. They both highlighted the ever-increasing popularity of Peruvian cuisine at the 2016 International Tourism Fair.

Both Brazil and El Salvador expressed the desire for friendship with Peru, especially now that it boasts of amazing tourist sites along with a growing gastronomy.

Aves and Duarte complimented Peru on its capitalization of its resources and its growing tourism industry. (more…)

No Zika virus yet identified in Peru

Peru has issued a warning for women who are in their first trimester to beware of traveling other Latin American countries due to the threat of the Zika virus. Although the virus has not been identified in Peru, health officials implore women to avoid traveling where they may be exposed to this dangerous virus.

Health Ministry official, Constantino Vila, asserts that the first trimester is essential in a baby´s formation of systems and tissues. The Zika virus may inhibit this formation and could cause the baby to be born with microcephaly. (more…)

Lima is rising in the ranking World’s Most Expensive City

Among the most expensive cities in the world were Luanda, Hong Kong and Zurich. Up till now, Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo ranked the top for Latin America.

In 2015, Lima rose 13 places in the rankings of Most Expensive Cities, acccording to a servey by Mercer and now takes the position number 122 (compared to 134 in 2015).

But on the contrary, on the Latin America list, Lima ranked 10 last year and 12th in 2015. The survey measures the annual cost of living and housing from region to region.

Peru to grow 3.6% in 2015

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has predicted that the economy of Peru will probably register a growth of 3.6%, while Latin America as a whole will record only 1% growth.

Countries such as Brazil and Argentina are expected to register – 8% and -1% respectively. It’s thanks the number of Peru as well as to Mexico (growth 2,9%) and for instance Colombia (3,3%) that the total number for Latin America is positive. According to the Secretary General of the OECD, Angel Gurria, the Latin American countries are losing strenght and the economic growth is deminishing. (more…)
