Peru: 4.4 Million Tourists in 2019

Peru increased the number of tourists in the year 2019 by %, but still desiring for new markets Canatur (National Chamber of Tourism) announced the limited airport capacity as one of the obstacles for an increase.

Even though it is a small improvement, this 1% boost is powerful compared to the other countries in the region. For example, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina and Brazil suffered a loss in tourists.

Canatur argues that the capacity of the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima holds back a possible increase since four international airlines desire to set up new routes to Peru. (more…)

Airport Lima will grow to receive 40 million passengers by 2030

Jorge Chavez International Airport, based in the Peruvian capital Lima, is expected to welcome 40 million tourists by the year 2030. This rapid increase of arrivals at the airport is due to the extensive expansion works, which will be finished next decennium. This has just been announced by the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Rogers Valencia.

However, Valencia stresses that the growth of flights to Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport should be well-structured to be a success. (more…)

Delayed Construction of Chinchero Airport

It was recently announced that construction has been delayed of the Chinchero Airport. This is to be an international airport located about 30 minutes outside of Cusco, Peru.

The Vice President of Peru, Martin Vizcarra, asserted that officials are taking this delayed time to resolve the doubts that surround the airport construction.

Originally, the construction of the airport was scheduled to begin on Tuesday, January 31st. Although delayed, the government says that this change in the schedule will allow for millions of dollars to be saved. (more…)

New direct flight from Chinchero to Miami

The new airport in Chinchero (Peru), which is expected to be completed by the year 2020, will allow passengers from Miami to avoid in Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport by flying directly to the Cusco region.

Chinchero is a small traditional town of just under 10,000 residence, located 30km from Cusco.

Once the airport is finished it is possible that the airport will also connect to many Latin American capitals. (more…)
