Puno, a city in the south of Peru, recently celebrated its 348th Anniversary with many typical rituals and festivities.
The main event was a reenactment of the Legend of Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo, an Incan couple that helped to found the Inca Empire and were the first rulers of the civilization.
The reenactment began with the couple on Uros, the floating islands on Lake Titicaca, along with some locals and enthusiastic tourists.
The participants, all dressed in typical Incan costumes, journeyed from the islands to Puno´s port on 60 rafts. (more…)
