Peru´s government plans to double tourism in the next five years

The National Chamber of Tourism asserts that it plans to double the number of tourists in Peru from 3.5 million to 7 million in the next five years.

PPK and his administration have also declared this to be a goal in the coming years; to increase tourism and therefore promote the economy.

The head of the National Chamber of Tourism, Fredy Gamarra, said, ´´All measure to promote tourist inflow from China, or from other countries, will help reach the State´s goal of doubling tourism by 2021.´´

Peru´s Government will Promote Growth through Tourism

Peru´s Prime Minister, Fernando Zavala, declared that the new government will rely heavily on tourism to promote growth and build the economy.

Zavala made these statements as he addressed Congress with the intent to build confidence in the new government´s plans. These plans include increasing foreign tourists in Peru to 7 million by 2021, which is double the 3.5 million foreigners that entered Peru last year.

Additionally, the Prime Minister declared to RPP radio station, ´´We want to prioritize tourism, because this is where we can create new sources of growth and new jobs for Peru.´´ (more…)

New President of Peru has high approval rating

Pedro Pablo Kuczynski was sworn in as Peru´s new president at the end of July. In his first few weeks as the President of Peru, he has received a 70.4% approval rating, according to the last CPI survey.

According to the poll, Peruvians believe PPK to have many strengths. Some of these include his experience, his ability to act as a leader, his knowledge in economics, his hardworking personality, his entrepreneurial background, his charisma, and his relationship with the Peruvian people.

With these strengths, PPK has won over the hearts of many Peruvians. (more…)

Peru´s new president aims to double tourism in the next 5 years

Peru sees around 3.5 million tourists come into the country each year. Though this is an impressive statistic, the new president, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, aims to double this number in the next five years.
The new governmental regime plans to implement strategies to increase tourism to Peru, which they claim will increase jobs, promote trade, and better Peru´s economy in general.

PPK says of this plan, ´´We are going to double tourist flow over five years. I believe, and maybe this is a little optimistic, that it must become our goal: doubling tourism, that is going to bring additional revenue worth between US$4 and US$5 billion.´´ (more…)

PPK is officially President-Elect of Peru

Pedro Pablo Kuczynski was officially named President-Elect of Peru on Tuesday. The ceremony was held in Lima at the Municipal Theater, where PPK received official documentation of his victory in the presidential election.

Numerous government officials and leaders were present at the ceremony. The ceremony included the playing of Peru´s national anthem, a reading of the results of the election by the National Election Board, a presentation of documents to Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, and a speech by the President-Elect himself. Keiko Fujimori and PPK expected for Presidential run-off

On Sunday, thousands of Peruvians cast their votes to determine the next President, Vice-Presidents, Congressmen, and Andean Parliament representatives.

After examining the votes, it has been said that Keiko Fujimori and Pedro Pablo Kuczynski are in the lead. Fujimori is leading with approximately 39.46% and PPK follows with 23.73%. Because Fujimori didn´t win the required 50% this past round, these top two candidates will participate in the second round elections in June.

Peru prioritizes long-term growth

Peru recently signed an agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development that seek long-term growth in Peru.

Alonso Segura, the Minister of Economy and Finance, is overseeing these agreements. He asserts that they will better Peru´s economy and provide more resources to all.

The agreements also work as a type of insurance for Peru as unexpected events and other risks sometimes shake the economy. Whether that be a natural disaster or an international problem, Peru will have more security. (more…)

Fujimori and Guzmán are front-runners in the polls

Keiko Fujimori and Julio Guzmán are the current front-runners of the Peruvian presidential polls. Fujimori, of the Popular Force party, leads with 34.6%, and Guzmán, of Everyone for Peru, holds 16.6%. Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, for Peruvians for Change, comes in third place with 6.9%.

The Special Electoral Board asserts that Guzman´s party, Everyone for Peru, is inadmissible. Despite these declarations, Guzmán continues his campaign with success.
