Millions of Tourists to Flock to Peru in 2017

Peru´s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism expects millions of tourists to flock to Peru throughout 2017.

The Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Eduardo Ferreyros, specifically announced that 4.36 million tourists will travel to Peru in the next year.

In addition to mining and agriculture, tourism is one of Peru´s main industries that draws foreign currency. Because of this, the government seeks to increase tourism in Peru to benefit the economy.

This year´s Telethon surpasses its goal in fundraising

On Saturday, October 1st, the San Juan de Dios Clinic surpassed its goal in its fundraising event, the Telethon 2016.

The San Juan de Dios Clinic functions as a general clinic for people of all ages, but specializes in aiding disabled children who don´t have the means to get help.

The original fundraising goal of Telethon was 8.8 million soles, and the final amount reached 11 million soles, thus exceeding the Clinic´s projected amount.

The event officially started in Lima on Friday, and the opening ceremony was done by Alfred Thorne, Peru´s Prime Finance Minister. (more…)

Peru advances to Quarterfinals

Peru´s soccer team had an important win over Brazil on Sunday night. Playing in the 2016 Copa America Centennial, this win allows Peru to advance to the quarterfinals.

At the last part of the half, Peru´s Raul Ruidiaz, otherwise known as ´the Flea´, scored a goal to make it 1-0 Peru. Furthermore, Peru´s goalie Pedro Gallese made some amazing saves that allowed for Peru to have the only goal of the game.

Andy Polo made the assist that allowed for Ruidiaz to make the first and final goal. It was a win for Peru that exhibited the team´s teamwork and hard work. (more…)

Peru Wins against Haiti

In the Copa America Centennial, Peru scored a win against Haiti. The final score was 1-0, Peru coming out on top. The game was played with intensity and fight on both sides.

It was tied 0-0 for the majority of the game, until Paolo Guerrero scored with a header after an assist from Edison Flores. After this goal, the momentum shifted to Peru and they controlled the game from there on out.

The truth is that Peru was the favored team in this match up. Although the score doesn´t reflect this, Haiti didn´t get many chances to attack and was playing defense for the majority of the game. (more…)
