Smurf houses and Stone Forest: Places you have to visit in Peru
The Stone Forest in Pampariche, also known as Pampa de Pabellones, in the Apurimac region, is a natural formation of rocks that can reach up to 10 meters.
These rocks were formed about three million years ago out of the volcanic material released in the area (Qarwasaru and Sotaya volcanoes) and they expand up to 60 hectares.
Daniel Katanella, a videographer, recently recorded these rock formations and on his video you can see the “smurf-type” houses where the people from Apurimac live.
Daniel also mentions that some of these formations look like mushrooms and that the houses are located at 3600 metres above the sea level in Peru.
