Silvia Vasquez-Lavado, a young mountain-climber, was the first Peruvian woman to climb to the top of the Mount Everest on the 19th of May 2016.
She reached the top around 06:00 AM Peruvian time.
Silvia Vasques-Lavado started her journey in 2005, when she arrived for the first time at the base of the mountain.
Because of the huge impact she decided to first climb the other high mountains in the world: the Kilimanjaro in 2006, the Elbrus in 2007, the Aconcagua in 2014 and finally became convinced to climb the Himalayas.
Together with 150 people from Nepal, Incia, New Zealand and Myanmar she climbed the mountain, reunited by “Courageous Girls” which is a non-governmental organization and works with female survivors of abuse.
