Today, Friday November 14, the 35th edition of the Feria del Libro Ricardo Palma, annual book fair begins in Lima. This year attendees can expect a larger venue, a wider range of literature, as well as activities to take part in, and performances to enjoy. The location of the 17-day long event has changed this year but the entrance is still free of charge.
The theme of this year is: “Tus libros a la vista,” or “Your books in sight”. The theme and the location along the Malecon match perfectly. The fair takes place at the Miraflores Parque Salazar (in front of Larco Mar) and will be twice as big as last year’s edition.
The book fair is 7 days a week from November 14 to 30. The opening hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday to Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays.
Besides books there are other things to do and see. Cámara Peruana del Libro (CPL), organizer of the event, said there will be circus performances, theater acts, live music, and storytelling.
National as well as international authors from Chile, Colombia and even France have confirmed their attendance. In two large auditoriums constructed for the event, talks and presentations will take place. There is a capacity of 150 to 200 persons per presentation.
Jorge Muñoz Wells, current Miraflores mayor, mentioned that the book fair aims to “promote the retention of the book, that unique experience that makes literature a special magic”.
