Rainbow Mountain wows tourists

Most tourists come to Cusco with the intention to visit Machu Picchu, but another lesser-known landmark will also make for a great visit: Vinicunca. This is a mountain that has the look of a rainbow with all of its different colors.

The name Vinicunca comes from Quechua and means ´´seven color mountain.´´ The mountain is located close to Cusco and makes for the perfect day trip.

The various colors that can be seen at Rainbow Mountain are naturally made. The sedimentary rocks are eroding and are forming a series of colors that looks very similar to a rainbow.

National Geographic has deemed Rainbow Mountain a must-see place for tourists. Especially on a cloudy day, the colors really stand out.

Visiting Vinicunca, or Rainbow Mountain, is the opportunity for another adventurous day in Peru. It will be a full day filled with hiking, delicious meals, and beautiful scenery.
