Peruvian grown quinoa is ever increasing in popularity. In fact, quinoa exports reached 33,778 tons in the first 8 months of this year.
The Association of Peruvian Exporters says that this marks a 36% increase of quinoa from the same period the year before.
However, experts also assert that revenues are decreasing, dropping 14% from the year before. Many say that this is due to an oversupply of the quinoa crop, therefore causing the price of quinoa to decrease.
The Association of Peruvian Exporters asserts that it is striving to promote quinoa´s benefits and different ways to use it. The Association hopes that this will increase demand for the product.
Peru´s quinoa is exported to a total of 64 countries around the world. The main importer of Peruvian quinoa is the United States, followed by the Netherlands, Canada, the UK, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Australia, Israel, Brazil, Japan, Chile, Taiwan, Mexico and others.
