Peruvian university ranks among best universities world-wide

One of Peruvians best universities is listed on the international QS Graduate Employability Ranking of 2019. This is a ranking of the universities where most students find a job within the first year after graduating.

The Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, or PUCP in short, is included in the list drafted by QS. This in Lima located educational institution ranks in the 251-300 category of the list. This makes the PUCP the 9th best university in all of Latin America.

The top three universities in Latin America is being formed by the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, followed up by Mexico’s Tecnologico de Monterrey and Brazil’s Universidade de São Paulo. In other words, the graduates of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile have the biggest change of getting a job within their first year after graduating.

This ranking is of high importance for the universities. The list offers a variety of stakeholders the opportunity to see the results of the universities. This can be a helping hand for both students and parents when choosing a university. It is a common belief that choosing the right university stands for having a successful career. However, critics of this ranking state that it is impossible to capture the success rate of students just by looking at the graduate employment rate figures.

It is worth noting that the POCP isn’t the only Peruvian university that was included in QS World University Rankings of 2019. In total there are 1000 universities listed, from which three are located in Peru. The Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and the Universidad Cayetano Heredia also rank in the top 1000 best universities in the world.

The QS World University Ranking proves the positive trend of Peruvian education. This offers opportunities for Peru’s future.
