“Peruvian Squash & Quinoa Soup” has been recently introduced to Canadian consumers through Loblaws supermarket chain, which is comprised of over 2,000.
The said product —prepared and packed in Canada— is made of Peruvian ingredients, such as “quinoa” and yellow chili peppers, and responds to the growing demand for Peru’s gastronomic and agro-industrial products.
This products is being promoted by Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry through its Toronto-based Trade Office (OCEX Toronto). Promotion activities are aimed at boosting and disseminating information concerning Peruvian non-traditional products, tourist destinations and investment opportunities available in the South American nation.
It must be noted Loblaws’ interest in acquiring products began during the OCEX Toronto-supported Trade Mission back in 2013 when five Canadian executives traveled to Peru to identify products. Thus, they were able to learn about local gastronomy and contacted 38 suppliers.
