“El Hueco,” a Peruvian short film that translates as “The Hole,” has the honor of participating in the Short Film Corner of the Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France. The world-renowned festival is set to run from May 13th to 24th of this year.
Produced by the audiovisual collective señor Z, written and directed by Germán Tejada and Daniel Martín Rodríguez, “El Hueco” is one of few to hold this honor. Señor Z made the announcement yesterday, March 4th, on their Facebook page to great excitement: “We are very happy. El Hueco, [The Hole], short film written and directed by Germán “Lobito” Tejada and Daniel Martín Rodríguez, and produced by Señor Z, will participate in the short film Corner of the Cannes Festival. Oh, la la, oi oi oi…”
The honor of participating in the Cannes Film Festival comes with valuable opportunities as well for the makers of “El Hueco.” As the festival’s official website states “the Short Film Corner is the essential rendez-vous for filmmakers” and promises off-the charts publicity for “El Hueco” as well as workshops, talks by prominent speakers and networking for the film’s makers.
Last year the Festival accrued 1,919 short films from 98 countries and welcomed 2,658 accredited participants.
