Peruvian National Team Excited About World Cup Group
LIMA (Reuters) – Peruvian soccer coach Ricardo Gareca said last Friday he “likes” and is happy with the group in which Peru will play the first phase of the 2018 World Cup, which will mark the return of the team to the tournament after a 36-year absence.
In addition, the coach asked that the Peruvian people believe in their team that will face France, Australia, and Denmark in Group C. Gareca described the other teams in the group as “careful rivals” after the draw held in Moscow.
“I like the group,” Gareca told Peruvian radio station RPP. “They adapt to us, to our way of playing, we’re going to be careful, but it’s a good group, I’m satisfied,” he added.
Peru will debut against Denmark on June 16 in Saransk and five days later will face France in Yekaterinburg. The Inca team will close its group phase on June 26 against Australia in Sochi.
“I tell people to trust us, we are fine, we are calm,” added the coach of the Peruvian team.
If Peru gets through the group stage, they will face one of the two qualifiers of Group D, made up of Argentina, Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria.
