Peruvian ex-leader Alberto Fujimori released from hospital
After being pardoned by Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Christmas Eve 2017, the ex-leader Alberto Fujimori has been released from the hospital recently.
Alberto Fujimori (79) had been serving a sentence of 25 years for corruption and human rights crimes during the time of his government in 1990-2000.
On the night of his pardon, Fujimori had been transferred to a hospital due to “life-threatening” heart problems.
The controversial decision by current President PPK of remission of sentence for Fujimori has separated the Peruvian population, some celebrating the ex-leader as a hero and others demanding to revoke the pardon.
