The Men´s Marathon took place last Sunday at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, and a Peruvian athlete placed fourth in the event.
The 2016 Rio Paralympic Games took place from September 7th-18th this year and saw the participation of athletes from 161 countries.
Efrain Sotacuro, Peru´s fourth place finisher, ended with a time of 2:55:27. He is the first Peruvian athlete in history to qualify for this specific event.
His coach, Rodolfo Gomez, trained him in Mexico. It thoroughly paid off after his impressive race on Sunday.
Furthermore, the first place finisher in the Men´s Marathon was Chaoyan Li from China. Athletes from Spain and Portugal placed second and third, respectively.
Efrain Sotacuro received a diploma for placing fourth in the event. Three other athletes from Peru also received diplomas for finishing in the top eight in their categories.
