Netflix has launched its first ever exclusively Spanish language series, Club de Cuervos (The Crows), about a Mexican football club and billionaire Siblings battling each other to be in control after the death of their father. The series, which is entirely shot in Mexico, launched at the start of August with the Peruvian actress Stephanie Cayo playing Mary Luz. Stephanie said in an interview that she believes May Luz is the most mysterious character in the show.
The show deals with a number of relevant themes including the role of Women in Mexico and within football, they were also very aware of not allowing the show to resemble a telenovela. As such they are hoping to appeal to a wide audience, through the drama, comedy and love of football.
Stephanie moved to New York when she was 17 to study and now lives in Los Angeles. She has traveled a lot through her work in acting, modeling and as a singer, including spending 4 months in Mexico for the filming of Club de Cuervos. She has commented that she would like to work on a good quality production in Peru at some point in the future as long as the conditions were right.
