Head of the National Service of Protected Areas by the State (Sernanp), Pedro Gamboa said that more and more tourists opt for unique holiday experiences in Peru’s protected natural areas. An expected number of 1.4 million people will visit the areas this year.
A number of promotional campaigns are being carried out with the aim of promoting the country’s natural wonders among visitors. Also according to Gamboa: “a total of 1.3 million tourists visited Peru’s natural areas last year and, with a 10 percent annual rise on average, we foresee about 1.4 million visitors coming here this year.”
In order to achieve this goal, Sernanp’s head went on to add, that the corresponding authorities are setting up infrastructure for locals and foreigners willing to visit these natural areas, which provide exceptional venues for, among others, bird watching.
In addition, a comprehensive campaign has been running by Mincetur to promote the natural beauties of the country and encourage more locals to experience nature-based tourism.
