Peru´s Prime Minister, Fernando Zavala, declared that the new government will rely heavily on tourism to promote growth and build the economy.
Zavala made these statements as he addressed Congress with the intent to build confidence in the new government´s plans. These plans include increasing foreign tourists in Peru to 7 million by 2021, which is double the 3.5 million foreigners that entered Peru last year.
Additionally, the Prime Minister declared to RPP radio station, ´´We want to prioritize tourism, because this is where we can create new sources of growth and new jobs for Peru.´´
With this in mind, Peru´s Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Eduardo Ferreyros, was asked to put tourism as the priority in his work.
As Peru seeks to grow substantially in the next five years, the government looks to the tourism industry to achieve this ambitious result.
