Based on the results of a survey of the United States Tour Operators Association, the USTOA, Peru is now the third most popular destination for Northamerican travelers, together with China.
The most popular spot is Italy and Great Brittain is second on the ranking. The USTOA confirmed Peru is becoming an increasingly popular destination for American tourist and the interest for the country as a vacation spot is still on the rise.
The survey also looked at broader tendencies withint the travel industry.
When asked to mention the top three “off-the-beaten-path” destinations that will become increasingly more popular this year, members named Myanmar, Vietnam and Cambodia (tied for second,) and India.
40 percent of members named Europe as the region of the world offering the most experiential travel options. “Perhaps not surprising”, added Terry Dale , the USTOA president, “given the wealth of cultural and gastronomic experiences available.”
Asia ranked second (21 percent) and South America was named by 12 percent of members.
