According to ECLAC, Peru has the greatest reduction in poverty out of all the countries in Latin America. President Ollanta Humala discussed this in a speech last Saturday.
Studies show that this reduction is due to increased household incomes and a greater level of social interaction between classes.
Humala´s social policy has expanded the social classes in Peru by offering many opportunities, but it also looks to establish services that help to minimize poverty and inequality in the rural areas of Peru.
In these last years, the poverty in Peru has decreased by 32%, which is the greatest reduction in all of Latin America.
Xavier Mancero, one of the chief officers in ECLAC, asserted that Peru holds a great position with this impressive reduction in poverty.
