The Peruvian government and Peru´s National Forestry and Wildlife Service have introduced a new system for the purchasing of timber. With this new system, they hope to increase the protection of Peru´s natural resources.
The idea of this system is to enforce a stricter policy for the production and purchasing of timber. Both the companies that buy and sell timber are encouraged to commit to buying and selling legal wood.
The Executive Director of Peru´s National Forestry and Wildlife Service has declared that many regional governments throughout Peru have pledged their cooperation to this new initiative to ensure legal timber.
He also asserts that buying legal timber will allow the government to recognize the best and safest producers and buyers. Furthermore, this will lead to the protection of the forest and wildlife of Peru.
With this initiative, Peru looks to start a change in the forestry and wildlife service in the hopes that consumers will begin to appreciate and seek out the responsible use of timber.
