Northern Peru One of the Best Places To Travel 2018

According to the US digital magazine Conde Nast Travel, the north of Peru is one of the best places to travel in 2018. The list of 18 best places to travel was set up by the magazine’s publishers and based on travel experiences and recommendations. The American magazine pointed out destinations such as the archaeological site Chan Chan, Huaca de La Luna temple, Leymebamba and the Gocta waterfalls. Other must-see destinations regarding the Conde Nast Travel include Bahamas, New Orleans and the Azores, Portugal.

The magazine claims that the mass tourists visit the popular south of Peru with absolute highlight Machu Picchu and the city of Cusco, but most leave the Spanish colonial towns of the north widely off the radar. Therefore, PromPeru (Peru Tourism Promotion Board) has been promoting the north of Peru intensively as a potential tourist destination the last years. Consequently, various tourist destinations have gained international attention and recognition.

On top of this nomination for 2018, the city of Kuelap also won two other awards in the year 2017. The Wall Street Journal and National Geographic awarded the Northern Peruvian city respectively as ‘coolest destination’ and ‘best attraction abroad.’

At the beginning of the year 2017, northern Peru was confronted by heavy weather conditions like rains, landslides, and floods. Nonetheless, the region and tourist sights survived, and the infrastructure is in proper condition. The north is ready to receive travelers from anywhere! Next to the legendary Machu Picchu, Peru seems to have another main tourist spot with their beautiful region in the north.
