The State-run National Service of Natural Protected Areas insists that it aims to protect four areas in Peru. They will do this by putting them on the Green List of Protected Areas of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
Being on this Green List ensures that the conservation and management of these areas is priority, and that recognition is given for the success of these sustainable sites.
The four areas that the National Service of Natural Protected Areas seeks to protect are the Amarakaeri Communal Reserve, the Calipuy National Sanctuary, the Matses National Reserve and the Cordillera Azul National Park.
Additionally, the Director of the Protected Natural Areas Management Division, Cecilia Cabello, declared that Peru is the second country in Latin America to apply for the Green List of Protected areas.
Furthermore, he further asserted that this is a great opportunity for Peru to show its dedication to protect natural areas and aid in their development.
