Kuelap: One of 10 Coolest Places to Visit
Kuélap, one of the most important attractions in Peru and in the Amazon, was listed as one of the 10 coolest places to visit next year according to the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal.
Not that we needed it, but there is now one more reason to explore the charms of the Amazon region. Belonging to the pre-Inca culture of Chachapoyas, Kuélap is the only South American attraction that made the ranking as it came in 3rd in the “coolest” destinations you should travel to next year. This important place of Amazonas was only surpassed by the Faroe Islands and the city of Puebla, in Mexico.
Often called ‘the second Machu Picchu’, the great attraction of Kuélap features narrow alleys, murals in the shape of diamonds and zigzags and walls up to 20 meters high. In addition, the opening of a cable car to reach the archaeological site in just 20 minutes makes it much easier for everyone to visit and appreciate the site, especially from the peak of the ruins.
