International BMX Event Held in Lima

The BMX Latin American Cycling Cup 2017 was held in San Juan de Lurigancho in Lima this past weekend. 350 athletes from all around South America and Europe, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Venezuela, and France arrived at the Zonal Club Huiracocha as they vied for the top awards during the competition.

While soccer seems to be enjoying somewhat of a renaissance moment here in Peru as the national team inches ever closer to a spot in the World Cup 2018 in Russia, it is important to drum up interest in other sports, especially considering how energized the country is at the moment and how much the economy has benefitted from the national team´s success.

Considered the first event on the BMX circuit, the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima is looking to use the competition as a way to generate interest in the sport and increase its visibility within the zonal clubs and metropolitan parks of Lima.
