This week, Machu Picchu is celebrating good news! Not only is Cusco remembering that Machu Picchu was listed in the New World Wonder list 8 years ago, on the 7th of July 2007.
But there is more. The other big achievement is that the World Heritage Commitee of Unesco has decided, that the Inca Citadel will not be included in the List of World Heritage in Danger.
Machu Picchu was declared in a sufficient condition during the 39th session of the World Heritage Comitee that took place in Bonn from June 28th till July 8th.
According to Ruiz Caro, head of the Cultural Department of Cusco, the comittee’s decision was unanimous and there was no further debate. Congratulations, Peru!
