Flight Qatar Airways of to Lima will boost the number of Chinese arrivals
The head of the National Chamber for Tourism (Canatur), has calculated that operations of Qatar Airways in Peru would have very positive effects on the local economy. If Qatar Airways starts flying to the capital Lima, the number of Chinese tourist arrivals will rise by a whopping 30%. The entry of wealthy Chinese tourists would offer opportunities to various destinations of Peru.
This is why the direction of Canatur stresses the importance of an agreement between Peru and oil-state Qatar. Signing an agreement would open a world of prospect for both Qatar’s flagship airline and Peru itself. Operating commercial flights to Peru would be beneficial for both parties.
Canatur states that Qatar Airways isn’t only an important player in the Arabian tourism market, but that it also has a fair share in the tourism markets of upcoming Asian countries, such as China, India, and Indonesia. These markets could offer new chances to the Peruvian recreational industry.
Fortunately, the negotiations with both the Qatari government as with the airline are on their way for two years already. The chances of a deal are quite big. However, to fly to Jorge Chavez International Airports, the planned expansion works need to speed up. Currently, the airport does not have sufficient facilities to increase the amount of arriving flights exponentially.
Qatar Airways itself is a very prestigious airline, which has been chosen as the best airline in the world in the year 2017. Currently, its goal is to be a central hub between the Western European countries and the far east. However, this might change in the future, as Qatar has shown interest in the continent of South America as well.
