Yahoo Travel published a news article this week, providing us with new and specific reasons to visit Peru. According to writer Michael Kaplan, there are actually five new and unique reasons for travelers to consider, when they decide about going to Peru. Kaplan states Peru is currently booming and tourism in Peru is growing enormously. That’s why he thinks it’s time to travel to Peru and those should be reasons to visit Peru and to love Peru.

  1. The Fun Sandboarding and the tours with dune buggies in Ica.

    Apart from the Amazone rain forest and the Andean mountains, Peru has a desert. The oasis Huacachina – approximately 200 kilometers South of Lima – is the perfect place for sandboarding and a dune buggy ride. If you schedule the ride for the late afternoon, you get the oportunity to see a wonderful sunset over the desert.

  2. The cocktails in “La Barra” in LIma.

    The recently opened bar “ La Barra” in Lim, the casual bar of the famous restaurant Astrid & Gaston, has an absolute impressive list of cocktails. The head of La Barra is no one else than Aaron Diaz, the famous Peruvian chef who built up his drink- mixing experience in Aviary, Grant Achatz’s bar in Chicago.

  3. The Peruvian animals.

    You should not miss a tour on the Amazon River. This gives you the opportunity to discover various types of animals in Peru such as pink dolphins, squirrel monkeys, sloths, giant anacondas and about 1300 different species of birds. Amazing!

  4. The Alternative routes to Machu Picchu such as Salkantay Trek.

    When in Peru, you should definitely not miss a visit to Machu Picchu, the famous lost city of the Incas that was rediscovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911. If you would like to hike there, it is good to know there are alternative ways to Machu Picchu than via the traditional Inca Trail. One of those alternative treks is the Salkantay trek, the perfect hike for those who would like to avoid the popular path of the more commercial and hard-to-book classic Inca Trail. On the Salkantay Trek, you will get stunning views of snowcapped mountains, get the chance to enjoy the hot springs in Santa Teresa.

  5. This hotel that could be an art gallery.

    Susana de la Puente, owner of Lima’s top gallery of modern art “Galeria Lucia de la Puente” in trendy Barranco, has now opened “Hotel B, a hotel full with paintings, photos and sculptures. The hotel is located in a gorgeous mansion that was once used as a presidential retreat. The high ceilings in the 17 rooms help the art showing his beauty.
