This year’s Chachapoyas Tourism Week, also known as Raymillacta, was launched during a ceremony at the esplanade of the Government Palace in Lima this past Saturday.
The Raymillacta 2013 will take place from June 2-9 in Chachapoyas, in Peru’s northern Amazonas region.
The week-long festival was launched Lima as a part of the “Palace for Everybody” program, whose goal is to introduce Peruvians to various cultural events from around their country.
Saturday´s grand opening featured several traditional dance numbers accompanied by flutes and drums.
As in previous years, the Raymillacta festival will include a food festival, a and music and art exhibitions throughout the week.
Speaking on behalf of the regional government of Amazonas, German Sanchez, the mayor of the Valera district, invited President Ollanta Humala, his wife Nadine Heredia and Peruvian and foreign tourists to attend this next month´s amazing and varied cultural showcase.
