The cable car in Kuélap will be finished in January, is reported by Mincetur (Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism in Peru). The fortress of Kuelap or Cuélap (located in Chachapoyas), is a walled city associated with the Chachapoyas culture, built in 6th century AD.

The monumental ruins of Kuelap are situated at 3000 metres above sea level. During the first trial period, the locals will not pay a cent if they want to use the cable care system.

Eduardo Ferreyros, the head of Mincetur announced that the trial period will last for around 10 days so the locals can get used to the new system and its benefits in their city.

Furthermore, for travellers – used to take a ride of 90 minutes to reach the Kuélap fortress – will arrive now, with the cable car, in only 20 minutes.

After the trial period a round trip will not cost more than S/ .20 with 26 available cars with 8 passengers each.
