Asian Tour Operators Get to Know Peru
PromPeru, the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board of the country, invited tour operators from China, India and Japan to Peru in order to increase tourist arrivals from Asia. These operators got an insight into Peru’s natural as well as cultural diversity, its gastronomy and hotel infrastructure.
In total, three groups came to Peru. All of them took part in business rounds of Peru Travel Mart that were organized in Lima from the 27th to the 29th of April.
Five travel agents from Tokyo and Osaka visited Peru from the 20th to the 29th of April spending some time in Cusco, Ica and Lima. The group did not just get to know new tourist products; the visitors also went to the Peruvian-Japanese Cultural Center in Lima.
From the 19th to the 29th April five tour operators from New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore visited Cusco, Lima and Puno in order to be able to promote Peru as a destination with a fine cuisine and really good services and infrastructure.
In January and February, the number of Asian tourists increased by 18%. Even more tourists from South Korea (+41%), mainland China (+34%), India (+37%) and Hong Kong (+42%) came to Peru. On average, Chinese travelers spend four to seven nights in Peru. They are willing to spend around US$2,500 for their trip.
