Peru has a replica of the popular Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris

Peru has a cathedral similar to the Notre Dame Cathedral located in France. Last week the Cathedral was big news all over the world because of the terrible fire that ruined a big piece of the beautiful cathedral and caused material damages to the Catholic Church, its art and history. The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, promised that they will rebuild the cathedral in 5 years. Furthermore, he said that they will make her more beautiful than before. (more…)

Peru wants 18 Sites on The UNESCO World Heritage List

The Ministry of Culture and the National Service of Natural Protected Areas by the State (Sernanp) delivered great work together. Thanks to them, 18 Peruvian sites will be submitted by The Peruvian State for the inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List. They will submit different type of sites: cultural, natural or mixed.

When a site is on the World Heritage List of UNESCO, it is recognized internationally. This is very important and valuable for the world and its future generations. (more…)

The hot spot of Cusco: Rainbow Mountain

Rainbow Mountain or Seven Color Mountain, Winikunka in Quechua, is one of the popular places to visit when you are in Cusco. The famous tourist attraction wants to attract more than 1 500 national and international visitors a day during the high season. Cusco’s Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur) confirmed that this season would start in the upcoming weeks when the rainy season is over.

Since the end of last year, tour operators have been advised not to sell or operate this tour because they want to prevent unlucky events triggered by rain or snowfall. (more…)

Rome of South Americas Juli (Puno), is back

Juli, a town in the Puno-region situated in the southeast of Peru, is also better known as the Rome of the Americas because of its beautiful architecture and temples in colonial style, similar to the ones in Rome. The town is back on its track to recover its splendour. Juli wants to become a centre for tourists who love culture.

Juli – also called “the Jewel of Puno” – was founded in Colonial times by the Dominicans. The main goal of those Dominicans was to build religious temples. In these temples, they wanted to prepare missions for evangelism across South America. (more…)

There is a new exhibition held in The Russian Museum of Ethnography in the Marble Hall in Sint-Petersburg, Russia. The exhibition is called “The Gold of the Inca Empire. God. Power. Eternity. 2000 Years of a Great Civilization”. It is dedicated to the interesting and memorable past of Ancient Peru.

In the exhibition, visitors can admire 86 valuable and original objects from the ancient Peruvian civilisations. All these objects have a personal message that the modern man. (more…)

Cusco in TripAdvisor’s Top 25 Destinations 2019

The Southern-Andean city of Cusco is ranked #23 according to TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice. Cusco is also the only South American city on the list among world’s top 25 destinations in 2019.

TripAdvisor is the world’s largest travel and restaurant website. It has an interactive travel forum and shows reviews of other travellers about hotels, restaurants and other travel-related topics.

Gold for Peruvian volleyball team at Special Olympics

At the Special Olympics’ World Games 2019 in Abu Dhabi, Peru’s extremely good volleyball team won gold! The games took place from March 14 till March 21 this year. Peru was represented by 22 athletes who participated in four disciplines: gymnastics, swimming, athletics and volleyball. In total the country won six golden, eight silver and five bronze medals. One of those gold medals was from the Peruvian volleyball team.

The Inca country had to play against Russia and won with 2-1. (more…)

How will climate change affect Peruvian glaciers and local communities?

Peru – A new project started by The University of Plymouth and the Geophysical Institute wants to search for the precise effects in the Peruvian Andes. The future and current climate changes cause these effects; the institutions want to focus specifically on its glaciers.

The communities in the Andes depend greatly on the water that melts from the glaciers. The ecosystem of the mountains provides the Peruvian communities with food and power. (more…)
