The Peruvian government recently decided that the 2019 Pan American Games will take place in Villa El Salvador, a coastal district just outside of Lima.
The government plans to invest $300 million in the construction of the Games´ headquarters. This will include apartments for participants, medical areas, gyms, parks, and other buildings, and it plans to house a total of 8,500 people from all around the world.
The event will begin on July 26th, 2019 and will continue until August 11th, 2019. It will mark the 18th occurrence of the Pan American Games.
Government officials were investigating various locations, such as the Circulo Militar, the Cuartel Hoyos Rubio, La Herradura, el Campo de Mar in Lurin, and the Hospital Victor Larco. The final decision was the Parque Zonal 26 in Villa El Salvador, a district on the outskirts of Lima.
Construction will begin soon, as the ownership of the property was recently transferred to the Ministry of Education so that the project can be initiated.
