Sale T-Shirts and TVs in Peru growing before FIFA World Cup

In Peru, the sale of TVs and T-Shirts has grown as the FIFA World Cup begins soon. It is the first time in 36 years that Peru participates in the World Cup.

According to the CCL, the Chamber of Commerce of Lima, 216,000 televisions were imported in April. Imports of the high-demanded televisions with 50 and 55-inches experienced growth rates between 100% and 180%.

More than 400 Peruvian Products presented at World Cup in Russia

PromPeru, Peru’s Exports, and Tourism Promotion Board, will present over 400 Peruvian products in Moscow during the World Cup in order to promote Peru’s exportable products in Russia.

According to Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Rogers Valencia, the Casa Peru, the Peru House, might be visited by 150,000 people from all over the world during the World Cup. Casa Peru will be situated near the main square. Peruvian products will be exhibited and product tastings will be offered. (more…)

Forests and Moors of Ayabaca deliver 4,400 Liters of Water per second

According to Natura and Culture (NCI), the humid forests and moors of Ayabaca deliver 4,400 liters of water per second to the Quiroz basin.

With this amount of water 6,700 bottles of water could be filled. During the past 5 years, the Initiative on Hydrological Monitoring in Andean Ecosystems (IMHEA) collected information on the hydrology of the high mountain ecosystems of Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

World Potato Congress held in Cusco

From May 27 to May 31, the tenth edition of the “World Potato Congress” will be held in Cusco and will attract around thousand scientists, producers and entrepreneurs from 52 countries. Peru is the first Latin American country to host the congress.

The World Potato Congress is organized by the World Potato Congress Inc. Corporation. The Peruvian side includes the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA), the International Potato Center (CIP), the National Agrarian University, Promperú and FAO. (more…)

Peruvian President campaigns for equal treatment of women and men

Martin Vizcarra, Peru’s President, announced during the award ceremony of Women’s Order of Merit 2018 that he wants to achieve equal treatment of women and men in Peru.

The ceremony took place in the Government Palace in Lima. In total, seven Peruvian women were honored for defending the rights of women and promoting equality of women and men.

41st edition of Dakar Rally 2019 in Peru

Peru will be the one and only host of Dakar 2019, which will take place from 6th until the 17th of January 2019.

Normally the tour goes through more than one country, but this year Chile and Bolivia declined the race so it will start and end in the capital of the Inca country, Lima. This will be the first time in history that the Dakar race will be held solely in one country.

Last year’s race had been held in Peru, Bolivia and Argentine. Currently, the organization of Dakar is checking the options to return the race o Africa (more…)

The Rainbow Mountain in Cusco, also called Vinicunca, is a 16,000 feet high, multicolored mountain visited by around 1000 tourists every day.

It was discovered five years ago and is now a must-visit attraction for tourists and travelers in Peru. Due to the high number of tourists, now people are afraid that the landscape will be damaged. A wetland has already been converted into a parking lot.

Peru: Promotional film created for World Cup Russia

PromPeru, Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board, is creating a movie for the World Cup in Russia that shows Peru’s cultural treasures putting a focus on the city of Cusco.

The 8-to-10-minute movie will present Peru’s cultural, archaeological and natural attractions like Machu Picchu and the Inti Raymi festival, a celebration dating back from the Incas that takes place every year on the 24th of June in Cusco.

Air Canada will offer daily direct flights between Peru and Canada

During high season, from June 27 to September 28, Air Canada will offer daily flights from Toronto to the Peruvian capital Lima. Furthermore, two weekly return flights from Lima to Montreal will depart and additional flights from Lima to Toronto.

PromPeru, the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board of the country, invited tour operators from China, India and Japan to Peru in order to increase tourist arrivals from Asia. These operators got an insight into Peru’s natural as well as cultural diversity, its gastronomy and hotel infrastructure.

In total, three groups came to Peru. All of them took part in business rounds of Peru Travel Mart that were organized in Lima from the 27th to the 29th of April.
