According to the US digital magazine Conde Nast Travel, the north of Peru is one of the best places to travel in 2018. The list of 18 best places to travel was set up by the magazine’s publishers and based on travel experiences and recommendations. The American magazine pointed out destinations such as the archaeological site Chan Chan, Huaca de La Luna temple, Leymebamba and the Gocta waterfalls. Last week, the regional governor of Arequipa, Yamila Osorio, presented the new logo of the Marca Destino Arequipa (Arequipa Destination Brand) at a meeting with local entrepreneurs. The new logo seeks to promote tourism development in the Arequipa region. Moreover, the goal of the new logo is to work together with the public and private sector to put Arequipa in the international spotlights.

Dakar Rally Returns to Peru After Five Years

The 40th edition of the Dakar Rally will come back to Peru. The capital of Lima will be the starting point of the rally on January 6th. During the anniversary race edition this year, the Ministry of Tourism and Foreign Trade officially confirmed, Peru will once again host the Dakar after five years (four editions) and will host five stages in the race.

The Dakar Rally is a rally for cars, trucks, quads, and motorcycles which is held annually in January. The rally is driven since 2009 through the South American desert. (more…)

LIMA (Reuters) – Peruvian soccer coach Ricardo Gareca said last Friday he “likes” and is happy with the group in which Peru will play the first phase of the 2018 World Cup, which will mark the return of the team to the tournament after a 36-year absence.

Oldest Mural in America in Northern Peru to be Restored

The oldest mural in America, at about 4,000 years old, was damaged three weeks ago on Sunday, November 12 by a fire, but authorities say about 85% of it can be repaired back to its original state.

The specialists, in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture of Peru, have covered the paint to protect it from further damage after discovering that the mural did not completely lose its color thanks to the conservation work that had been done before the fire. (more…)

Phil Collins Coming to Lima in 2018

The British singer Phil Collins confirmed a string of concerts that will take place in 2018, including in Lima. The British singer will play in the capital city on March 13, 2018.
