Photographs of uncontacted Amazonian tribe

Photographs of an uncontacted Amazonian tribe in Peru were captured recently by a photographer who was taking a detour to avoid a heavy rainstorm above the Amazonas.

The Brazilian photographer did not have much time to take these photos, but he spotted this unknown tribe while flying over Acre, a state located in the north-west of Brazil close to the border of Peru. He is currently working on a book about other indigenous people.

Residents take safety measures for New Year’s Celebrations

Residents in Peru take safety measures for New Year’s Celebrations as per the government´s request to ensure that all planned actions for New Year’s are authorized and take the appropriate measures.

The National Office of Interior Government (ONAGI, Spanish acronym) wanted the public to check if all the activities organized by different parties have the correct authorization, but also the right security measures for events in Lima and Callao.

Travelers tend to overlook Lima because the main focus of tourism in Peru is on Cusco and Machu Picchu.

People who spend their summer vacations in Peru are more attracted to the former Incan capital in the Andes, as the fog tends to settle during this time in Lima.

Cable car in Kuélap inaugurationed this January

The cable car in Kuélap will be finished in January, is reported by Mincetur (Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism in Peru). The fortress of Kuelap or Cuélap (located in Chachapoyas), is a walled city associated with the Chachapoyas culture, built in 6th century AD.

The monumental ruins of Kuelap are situated at 3000 metres above sea level. During the first trial period, the locals will not pay a cent if they want to use the cable care system.

Eduardo Ferreyros, the head of Mincetur announced that the trial period will last for around 10 days (more…)

Every year, Trip Advisor asks travelers their favorite destinations across the globe, and Peru’s Machu Picchu was 2016´s most popular site!

The list was of the top 25 landmarks worldwide in the year of 2016. The evaluation of travelers was done throughout the year, as millions of people posted various reviews on Trip Advisor.

Peru: Newscast held entirely in Quechua raises interest of international media

For the first time ever, a newscast held completely in Quechua was aired in Peru. The crew of the “Ñuqanchik” program is composed of Quechua speakers, and the show´s focus and construction is based on the interests of Quechua speakers.

Providing news for the Inca nation’s Quechua speakers, who account for over four million Peruvians, the directors of the newscast have raised the attention of national press, as well as known international media such as CNN, Televisa and CCTV.

Peru registers US$115.8 million in Prawn Exports

Despite the decrease in export numbers for the main destination United States, Peru can still account for an increase in the revenues for prawn exportation this year.

The exports of prawns between January and September in 2016 have increased 3.6% (totalled US$115.8 million) compared to the same period in 2015, according to Peru’s Exporters Association (Adex).

Apart from the US, who accounted for a 56.6% of the total despite the decrease, Peru also exports to Spain (19.1% of total exports), and 23 other countries in Europe and Asia. (more…)

Peruvian Roasted Pork Festival to be held in the US

Peru´s so called Roasted Pork Festival has big chances to take place in Washington D.C. in the USA in the year 2017. The festival celebrates a special roasting style of pork, typical for Huaral, a Peruvian city about 60 km north of Lima.

Chairwoman of the AHORA- Huaral (Hotels, Restaurants and Related Establishments Association of the City of Huaral), Rosa Elena Balcazar, has proudly announced that the Roasted Pork Festival might take place in the US next year, after the traditional plate had been promoted successfully in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Santiago (Chile). At this year´s World Travel Awards, Peru was named the #1 culinary spot for the 5th consecutive year!

Every year, the World Travel Awards are held to recognize the top destinations throughout the world.

Peru now holds the great prestige of being honored for its gastronomy for so many years in a row. The Peruvian Commission for the Promotion of Export and Tourism asserted that this honor is due to a team effort in Peru.

Earthquake in Puno

An earthquake has hit the city of Puno and Lake Titicaca with a magnitude of 6. Eight repetitions with a bit lower magnitude, between 3.8 and 4.3 on the Richter scale, hit the region again on Saturday.

At 1:09 pm, 60 kilometres east of Lampa, another earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 hit Peru last Saturday.

In addition, a girl of five years died in a collapsed house in the damaged areas of Vila Vila, Ocuviri and Santa Lucia.

National Geographic crowns Peru among top destinations for travelling

Just recently, Peru was featured as one of National Geographic’s Top 5 destinations for travellers next year. The “must-see destination” was ranked as number 5 in the leading travel magazine from the UK.

Likewise, the city Choquequirao in the Cusco region was recently highly ranked in the Lonely Planet’s best travel regions. This is another place you should not miss when coming to Peru.

Moreover, the airline British Airways introduced a direct flight from London to Lima last year in May. (more…)
