Beer Week in Lima

Starting on October 14th and going until October 23rd, it´s Beer Week in Lima! This exciting event will ensure that numerous fun activities provide the opportunity to try various craft beers.

This week is the inaugural event for Lima Beer Week, and was initiated by the Union of Peruvian Craft Brewers. This is a group of 26 craft brewers who are working to promote the hard work and fabulous product of local breweries.

Lima Beer Week will consist of a variety of activities, such as brewery visits, conferences, parties, tastings, and so much more. (more…)

7th Oil Spill this Year Occurs in the Amazon

In the region of Loreto, an oil spill took place on Friday, October 14th. This is the seventh oil spill to occur this year in the Amazon of Peru.

The spill was on the Northern Peruvian Pipeline on the first section of the Pipeline. PetroPeru, the company responsible, is in the process of investigation by the Agency for Assessment and Environmental Control.

The company asserts that it did all in its power to contain the spill once it began, and that the spill was not caused by them, but by a third party.

Peru´s TV Programs to Show in China

The National Institute of Radio and Television has recently declared that Peru´s TV programs will show in China.

This development stemmed from Peruvian president Pedro Pablo Kuczynski´s visit to China last month, when officials signed various agreements to promote a closer relationship between the two countries.

The chairman of National Institute of Radio and Television, Hugo Coya, asserted that this sharing of Peru´s TV Programs is a step towards the exchange of culture between China and Peru.

Peru´s Dairy Products to Dominate the Sector with New Agreement with New Zealand

The governments of Peru and New Zealand recently reached an agreement. This new agreement will ensure that Peru´s dairy products will dominate the dairy sector on an international level.

The agreement is called the International Cooperation Project. This project focuses on boosting dairy producers in Peru, particularly the smaller ones in the areas of Puno, Cusco and Cajamarca.

Marinera Flashmob in Independencia District!

Friday, October 7th marked the official day of the Marinera dance. As people gathered to celebrate in the Independencia District, a Marinera Flashmob erupted in a local mall.

The celebration festivities began on Thursday, October 6th, at the Plaza Conquistadores mall, a mall in the Independencia District in Lima, Peru.

The event began with four couples dancing marinera. Then, more and more people joined in, until more than 100 Marinera dancers were dancing.

Various artists participated in this event, coordinating with hundreds of people to make the flashmob a reality. (more…)

A Pilgrimage in Honor of a Famous Legend to Take Place in Ayabaca

During the week of October 10th-14th, Peruvians and Ecuadorians will take part in a pilgrimage in Ayabaca in honor of a famous legend.

Ayabaca is a town in the north of Peru, just before the border of Ecuador. An old legend that centers around the town sparks this famous pilgrimage every year.

The legend says that a Spanish priest, García Guerero of Ayabaca, wanted to create an image of Christ into a tree trunk. Three men came to him and volunteered for the job, but they wanted to do it in secret, with no one watching.

Peruvian City Grows in Popularity for Business Tourist Destination

Peru´s city Arequipa, known as ´´the White City,´´ is quickly growing in popularity as a business tourist destination.

Specifically, Arequipa has excellent hotels, tourist attractions, and high quality service that make it a growing destination for business conferences.

The Exports and Tourism Promotin Board has declared Lima, Cusco, Ica and Arequipa to be the best cities in Peru for business meetings.

Schengen visa waiver agreement flourishes in Peru

The European Union Ambassador to Peru has declared that the Schengen visa waiver agreement is flourishing in Peru.

The agreement was formalized in mid-March, when Peruvians were able to travel to more countries with their biometric passports.

After examining the results in the recent months, the Ambassador, Irene Horejs, asserted that there were no issues for the Peruvians traveling to the specified European countries in the agreement.

This year´s Telethon surpasses its goal in fundraising

On Saturday, October 1st, the San Juan de Dios Clinic surpassed its goal in its fundraising event, the Telethon 2016.

The San Juan de Dios Clinic functions as a general clinic for people of all ages, but specializes in aiding disabled children who don´t have the means to get help.

The original fundraising goal of Telethon was 8.8 million soles, and the final amount reached 11 million soles, thus exceeding the Clinic´s projected amount.

The event officially started in Lima on Friday, and the opening ceremony was done by Alfred Thorne, Peru´s Prime Finance Minister. (more…)
