Peru’s economic expansion enabled nearly 10 million Peruvians to leave poverty behind over the last 25-year period, CADE 2015 Chairwoman Elena Conterno affirmed.
According to the officer, over the analyzed term Peru’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has tripled, whereas exports increased fourfold. “Without any doubts, it’s a different country. Nowadays, we enjoy this three-fold Peru achieved by Peruvian citizens,” she explained.
Former Production Minister approximated this growth to account for almost 80% of poverty reduction recorded during the said term.
“We are very proud Peruvian products and services conquer the world thanks to every large-, medium-, small- and micro-entrepreneurs, who have bet on the country […],” she expressed, noting that GDP growth has allowed the State —many companies’ main partner— to increase its budget fivefold.
