Trekking to Maragua Crater Trek

Itinerary

Sucre (2750m) - Chataquila (3650m) - Maragua (3100)

We begin our trek in the morning, setting out from Sucre in our private transportation. We drive to the town of Chataquila for about 1 hour through the countryside and the surrounding pine forest. Arriving in Chataquila, we begin our Maragua Crater trek; first, into the direction of the pre-hispanic road for about 2,5 h in the beautiful scenery. At the end of the pre-hispanic road, our driver waits for us to take us to the Crater of Maragua for an approximately 50 minutes' drive.

At the crater, we have time to have lunch and to explore the Maragua Crater, as well as the close by a local community. Afterwards, we make our way back to the city of Sucre in our private transportation (ca. 2,5h), or, as the afternoon sun begins to set, we continue and arrive at our comfortable and warm hostel, a cozy sanctuary amidst the wilderness.

Day 2:

On the second day, we rise with the sun, ready to embrace a new day of exploration. Our Maragua hike resumes, leading us towards the picturesque town of Potolo. During the route, we'll encounter captivating highlights, including the ancient dinosaur footprints of Niñu Mayo and the inspiring red mountains of Potolo Valley.
