The Lake Titicaca 2 Day Tour from Puno offers one of the most authentic cultural experiences in Peru. Lake Titicaca, located on the border between Peru and Bolivia, is the highest navigable lake in the world and home to traditional island communities that have preserved their way of life for centuries.
During this tour you visit the famous Uros Floating Islands, built entirely from reeds, and continue to Amantani Island, where you stay overnight with a local family. This unique homestay experience allows you to learn about daily life, traditions and local culture in the Andes.
On the second day you visit Taquile Island, famous for its UNESCO recognized textile traditions and spectacular views over Lake Titicaca.
This tour combines culture, nature and community tourism, making it one of the highlights of southern Peru.
Your journey begins in Puno with a boat trip across the vast waters of Lake Titicaca. The first stop is the fascinating Uros Floating Islands, where local families live on artificial islands made from totora reeds.
From there you continue by boat to Amantani Island, one of the largest islands in the Peruvian part of Lake Titicaca. Here you stay overnight with a local family and experience traditional island life.
The next day you travel to Taquile Island, known for its beautiful landscapes and unique textile traditions. Local weaving techniques are recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
After exploring the island and enjoying a traditional lunch (optional), you return by boat to Puno.
The islands of Lake Titicaca are home to Quechua and Aymara communities that maintain strong cultural traditions.
On Amantani, visitors stay with local families in simple homestays. This experience allows travelers to better understand traditional rural life in the Andes. Taquile Island is particularly famous for its textile traditions, where men knit intricate hats and garments that represent social status and identity within the community.
