The San Francisco Monastery and Catacombs are among the most fascinating historical attractions in Lima.

Built during the 17th century, the catacombs were used as a burial place during the colonial period and contain the remains of an estimated 25,000 people.

Today visitors can walk through the underground tunnels and see the carefully arranged bones and skulls, offering a unique glimpse into Lima’s colonial past.
